Hello, I’m Alex Woods. I am a creative and passionate developer with a love for games and learning what makes them work.
My first computer I got was the family pc, saw in the living room. I was always fascinated with it as it seemd like magic to me, so many possibilities. Once I got my own smartphone, then laptop, then desktop, I wanted to figure out how they worked, so I just started tinkering away. I broke alot of things in the process, but I also learned alot about how they worked.
Once one of my teachers brought up programming in highschool, I knew that I wanted to do it, so I signed up for the BOCES program during highschool and never looked back to follow this dream. It was hard, but it was so worth it as it planted the seed in my head of my love of programming, and to always foster the love of learning computers.
Ever since I got got a Wii when I was young, I was always facinated with games. And as time went on I got more and more consoles, eventually moving to pc, and realizing that this is what I wanted to do in life. I want to make games to tell stories and
I definetly grew up as a nintendo kid, I loved mario and legend of zelda, but I also liked some of the more niche titles like pikmin and thousand year door. And as I grew older, my interests shifted from awe in what I was seeing, to wondering how a specific effect or technique was created.
I graduated from SUNY Morrisville on May 17th of 2025, with a bachlors in Software Development, with a minor in Cyber Security and Game Programming. I am very good at teaching myself how to learn, I started programming on my own using scratch, and eventually learned C# and Unity by looking at documentation and articles online. If it wern’t for the skills I bn got from teaching myself I could never have gotten as far as I am as a programmer.
I am proficient in C# and Unity. I have dipped my toes in other C languages (see this post to read about my C++ OpenGL renderer!) C# is what really taught me to program beyond simple toy programs.
I also like experimenting with blender to learn how better to use it. check this post for a scene of a dungeon, and this post to see my first ever rigged model!
I have also been working on my own home network, using various tools and services in proxmox to make it run. check out this post to see more.
On this site you will find projects I’ve done, as well as general posts ranging from small experiments, to updates on my home lab. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy.
